Helen Jean Collins May of Woodsbend, KY, passed away Thursday, August 29, 2019 at Morehead, KY, at the age of 86 years, 6 months, and 28 days. She was born Wednesday, February 1, 1933 at Blaze, KY, daughter of the late Clay Wade & Lucy Callahan Collins.

She was united in marriage to Woodford “Woody” May. This union was blessed with five children, Karen, Steven, Ricky, Connie, and John. She was a homemaker, devoting her life to care for her family and her home. She was a Christian and a member of the Woodsbend Community Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister, and will be sadly missed by all her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Woodford “Woody” May; two grandchildren, Jonathan May and Sharon Ann Williams; three sisters, Marie Lewis, Susie Lewis, and Betty Brown; and one brother, Roger Collins.
She is survived by five children, Karen May of Morehead, KY, Steven May of Woodsbend, KY, Ricky & Susie May of Woodsbend, KY, Connie May & David of Morehead, KY, and John May & Cindy of Lexington, KY; thirteen grandchildren, Jesse Lacy, Ranger Lacy, Steven “Fred” May, Helen Ann Burchett, Kaytie Phipps, Haley Brooke May, Cheyanne Tharp, Chris Caskey, David Guy, Jr., Chelsea Guy, Cassandra Whitcomb, Amber Wolfe, and Nathan Whitcomb ; sixteen great grandchildren; sisters, Delma Adelizzi of New Jersey and Edith McKenzie of Lady Lake, FL; special sisters-in-law, Oleta Collins of West Liberty, KY, Eleanor Ferguson of Grassy Creek, KY, and Betty & Norman Elam of Woodsbend, KY; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service 1 p.m., Monday, September 2, 2019 at the Woodsbend Community Church, with Rev. Jason Moore & Rev. Bob Stilson officiating. Burial to follow in the May Cemetery, Woodsbend, KY. Visitation from 6 -9 p.m., Sunday, September 1, 2019 at the Potter Funeral Home.
