Jay Gilbert Potter of West Liberty, KY, passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at Morgan County ARH, West Liberty, KY, at the age of 84 years, 10 months, and 23 days. He was born Saturday, September 8, 1934 at West Liberty, KY, son of the late Marvin & Cassie Romans Potter.

Jay was united in marriage to Linda Vie. This union was blessed with five children, Janea, David, Todd, Tonya, and Rebecca. Jay served his country in the U.S. Army from 1956 – 1958. He was a retired Truck Driver and Construction Worker. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, and will be sadly missed by all his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Marvin Potter, Jr., Raymond Potter, and Jackie Potter; and four sisters, Katherine Meeks, Reva Swiger, Ella Mae Graham, and Phyllis Rebecca Potter.
He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Potter; five children, Janea & Moe Chaney, David & Janell Potter, Todd Potter, Tonya & Carter Bolin, all of West Liberty, KY, and Rebecca & Kevin Brickey of Grassy Creek, KY; eleven grandchildren, Cassie Chaney, Nick Chaney, Megan Conley, Keisha & Devan Adkins, Christopher Potter, Brandon Conley, Chase Potter, Cameron Conley, Chandler Trusty, Casey Potter, and Jaylin Brickey; two step grandchildren, Michael Brickey and Jason & Nakita Osborne; four great grandchildren, Brody Adkins, Easton Adkins, Dylan Hall, and Nylah Brickey; two brothers, Ray & Ruth Potter of West Liberty, KY, and Larry & Wanda Potter of Dayton, OH; one sister, Marge & Jay Hasbrook of Gratis, OH; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral service 1 p.m., Sunday, August 4, 2019 at the Potter Funeral Home, with Bro. Rick Pelfrey & Bro. Mike Frisby officiating. Burial to follow in the Salyer Cemetery, West Liberty, KY, with Morgan County DAV to conduct Military Rites. Visitation at 6 - 9 p.m., Saturday, August 3, 2019 at the Potter Funeral Home.
