Yvonne Marie Prater of Hazel Green, KY, passed away Friday, February 8, 2019 at the Greg & Noreen Wells Hospice Center, Hazard, KY, at the age of 83 years, 7 months, and 11 days. She was born Friday, June 28, 1935, at Canton Township, MI, daughter of the late Joseph Albert & Sarah Ann Low Champagne.

Yvonne was united in marriage to Woodford Prater. This union was blessed with three children, Raleigh, Norman, & Anna Marie. Yvonne lived a life of humble service to God and her community. During her lifetime she was a member of the Catholic, Baptist, and Methodist religions. For many years, she served as a Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, Vacation Bible School Director, and choir member. While a 20+ year member of the Red River Community Church she developed her own needlepoint cross design. These crosses were given to people in church, foreign missions, and in the community. She also served her community as a Webelos & Cub Scout Den Mother, Brownie & Girl Scout Leader, 4-H volunteer, and school volunteer.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Woodford Prater; one great grandchild, Viktoriann Prater; and three sisters, Mary Irene Vasher, Mary Eva Champagne, and Mary Lucille Champagne.
She is survived by three children, Raleigh Prater of Willis, MI, Norman & Maggie Prater of Cannel City, KY, and Anna Marie & Michael Smith of Hazel Green, KY; four grandchildren, Samuel Prater, Kelly Cameron, Christopher Prater, and Timothy Smith; three sisters, Marcella Henderson of Belleville, MI, Annette Sweeney of Belleville, MI, and Lillian Cole of Canton, MI; and four brothers, Joseph Albert Champagne, Jr. of Ypsilanti, MI, Joseph Richard & Cathy Champagne of Ypsilanti, MI, David & Susan Champagne of Belleville, MI, and Steve & Deanna Champagne of Chelsea, MI.
Funeral service 11 a.m., Monday, February 11, 2019 at the Potter Funeral Home, with Rev. Charles Glover & Rev. William Prater officiating. Entombment to follow in the West Liberty Memorial Gardens & Mausoleum, West Liberty, KY. Visitation from 6-9 p.m., Sunday, February 10, 2019 at the Potter Funeral Home.
