Billy Joe Elam of West Liberty, KY, passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at his residence, at the age of 67 years and 27 days. He was born Thursday, November 8, 1951, at West Liberty, KY, son of the late Willie & Rebecca Couch Elam.

Billy Joe was united in marriage to Marsha Miller. This union was blessed with two sons, Shannon Wyatt and Christopher Shawn. Billy Joe was a Heavy Equipment Operator and was a US Army Veteran, serving his country from 1971 -1973. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother and will be missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers and one sister, Miles Oren Elam, Howard Burns Elam, Robert Wayne Elam, Faye Lee Elam, Amos Guy Elam, Lou Edith Elam Litton, and Terry Wyatt Elam.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Marsha Kay Miller Elam; two sons & daughters-in-law, Shannon Wyatt & Kara Elam and Christopher Shawn & Lacey Elam all of West Liberty, KY; four grandchildren, Carrie Shawn Elam, Tyler Joseph Elam, Jacob Wyatt Elam, and Jackson Wheeler Elam; one sister, Mary Frances Elam Vance; one sister-in-law, Inge Elam; one brother-in-law, Jeff Miller; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral service 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Potter Funeral Home, with Bro. Karl Elam & Rev. Jamie Brunk officiating. Burial to follow in the Old Elam Cemetery, Gose Branch RD, West Liberty, KY. Visitation after 6 p.m., Friday, December 7, 2018.

Pallbearers: Bucky Bailey, Tim Bailey, Chris Elam, Tyler Elam, Randy Risner, Robert Elam, Mike Elam, Howard Elam, Jacob Elam, and Carrie Elam.

Honorary Pallbearers: Larry Jenkins, John Tate, Gary Perry, Randolph Howell, Frankie Kemplin, Keith Vance, and Kyle Risner.

Dear Family: I am so very sorry for the great loss each of you have suffered. Please be comforted with the knowledge that Billy Joe is having a reunion and rejoicing in heaven with his Mother and Dad, sister, brothers, and many others.
