Obituary for Gary Lee Cox

Gary Lee Cox of West Liberty, KY, passed away Saturday, November 24, 2018 at the St. Claire Regional Medical Center, Morehead, KY, at the age of 75 years, 4 months, and 21 days. He was born Saturday, July 3, 1943, at Lacy Creek, KY, son of the late Emma Cox Coffee.

Gary served his country in the US Army from 1962 through 1965. He was a retired jailer for 21 years. He was united in marriage to Jerry Stumbo Standafer on September 20, 2003. He attended the Zag Community Church and was also a member of the Highland Masonic Lodge #311.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Johnny Darrell Coffee & Donald Ray Coffee.

He is survived by his wife, Jerry Cox; two children, Gregory Lee Cox and Melissa & Chalmer Adams all of West Liberty, KY; one granddaughter, Brittany Williams of West Liberty, KY; three step children, Tim & Julie Standafer of Sellersburg, IN, Tammy & Greg Potter of Hazel Green, KY, and Brandon Standafer of San Diego, CA; six step grandchildren, Chandler & Stephanie Adams, Harry Standafer, Blake Standafer, Cole Potter, Jerrod Potter, and Brett Potter.

Funeral service 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at the Potter Funeral Home, with Bro. Donald Cox & Bro. J.R. Keeton officiating. Burial to follow in the West Liberty Memorial Gardens, West Liberty, KY., with Morgan County DAV Chapter 132 conducting military rites Visitation after 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at the funeral home with Masonic services being conducted at 7 p.m. by Highland Masonic Lodge #311.

Pallbearers: Harry Standafer, Blake Standafer, Cole Potter, Jerrod Potter, Brett Potter, Greg Potter, and Chalmer Adams.

Honorary Pallbearers: Bill Frank Lacy, Roger Nickell, Phillip “Hoggie” McGuire, and Kevin "Groundhog" Lawson.
