Coy J. Holbrook of Lexington, KY, passed away Thursday, March 29, 2018, at St. Joseph East, Lexington, KY at the age of 86 years, 2 months, and 29 days. He was born Wednesday, December 30, 1931, at Lenox, KY, son of the late Estill & Ethel Doolin Holbrook.
Coy was united in marriage to Ella Morris, this union was blessed with five children. Coy was a retired spot welder. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving his country during the Korean War, where he was wounded in battle and received a purple heart. Coy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Terry Lynn Holbrook; one daughter, Wanda Holbrook Moore; two brothers, Troy Holbrook and Lawrence Holbrook; and two sisters, Millie Katherine Holbrook and Ella Marie Holbrook.
Coy is survived by his wife, Ella Holbrook; three children, James Holbrook of Winchester, KY, Beverly Holbrook and Debra Holbrook both of Lexington, KY; four grandchildren, Brandon Hill and Caitlin Holbrook, both of Lexington, KY, Allison Hill of Harlan, KY, and Sky Creech of Winchester, KY; four sisters, Nell Creech, Leora & Joe Perkins, and Donna Nolan all of Winchester, KY, and Kay & Pete Adkins of West Liberty, KY; one brother, Donald & Wanda Holbrook of Winchester, KY; and a host of nieces & nephews.
Funeral service 1 p.m., Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at the Potter Funeral Home, with Bishop James Rayburn officiating. Burial to follow in the Morris Cemetery, Caney, KY. Visitation from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m., Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at the Potter Funeral Home.
