Obituary for Carla J. "Janie" Collinsworth

Carla Jane Nickell Collinsworth, 56, of Daysboro, passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center, Morehead, Kentucky.
Janie was born on August 20, 1961 in West Liberty, Kentucky, a daughter of Gayle T. and Sylvia Johnston Nickell.
Janie gave her life to the Lord when she was in high school at Hazel Green Academy and was baptized alongside her great Aunt Emma Coffee in the waters of Elkfork a few years later. She was a member of the Lick Branch Enterprise Baptist Church and the Lacy Creek Baptist Church. She loved to sing, and most Sundays she was found faithfully praising God through a few beautiful songs, accompanied by her mother Sylvia. After Sylvia’s death Janie continued to sing on her own. She was a talented artist of oil paintings and hand-sewn quilts. She was a member of the String Along Quilt Guild in West Liberty. She also perfected the art of making her delicious “Kentucky Cream Candy”, which she became well-known for, not only locally, but across state lines. Oftentimes she worked into the wee hours of the morning to make sure all the orders for her faithful customers were filled in a timely manner. Janie was also a dedicated fan of bluegrass music. Of all the many talents she possessed, her compassion for others was by far her best. She was a kind, caring, and giving soul, always putting the other person before herself.
Janie was preceded in death by her parents, Gayle and Sylvia; an infant brother; her grandparents, Charley and Beulah Rice Nickell and Carl and Nancy Cox Johnston; her husband, Glen Collinsworth; her cousin, Jackie Chaney; and numerous other beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Marva and Doug Rose of Hazel Green; niece, Carla and Zach Collier of Pine Ridge; nephew, James Courtney Rose of Lexington; great nephews and niece, Austin, Molly, and Nathan Collier of Pine Ridge; cousin / niece, Ashleigh and Chris Wellman of Malone; aunts, Marie Chaney of Malone, Norma and Leroy Noble of Centerville, OH, Elizabeth “Dolly” Nickell of Englewood, OH; cousins, Steve, Jana, Cameron, and Cody Chaney of Poplar Bluff, Illinois, Winfield “Coy” and Sherry Chaney of Chula Vista, California, Jackie Gibson, Anita Leis, Carol Noble, Cindy Carroll, and Lianne Hall all of Ohio, Eva McCullough, Nancy Pinard, and Willie Jones, all of Kansas; her companion, Joe Terrill; her work family at the Courier Publishing Company; her good and faithful Dog, Ranger; and a host of other family and friends who will greatly mourn her passing.
