Kester “Keck” King Stephens of West Liberty, KY, passed away Friday, March 15, 2024, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center, Morehead, KY, at the age of 85 years, 11 months, & 24 days. He was born Thursday, April 7, 1938 at Winfield, TN, son of Mitchell & Rose Ellen King Stephens.
Keck was a retired Maintenance Welder for General Motors. He was a “master tinkerer”, building several objects from just about anything. He enjoyed working with wood and metal, and loved golfing, bird watching and feeding deer. He was a Mason and member of Highland Masonic Lodge #311. Keck will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, great-great grandfather, and brother. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mitchell & Rose Ellen King Stephens and one brother, Ken Stephens and his wife “Toots”.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Day Blanton; two children, Thomas Kester Stephens (Linda) of West Liberty, KY and Cynthia Ellen Stephens Lee (Joel) of Hamilton, OH; 4 grandchildren, Jeremy Stephens, Heather Stephens, Chris Fedler (Matt) and Samantha Schmadel (Mike); 7 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; two step children, Myra Addington (Bruce) of Gulfport, FL and Rocky Blanton (Janey) of Pebble Beach, CA; 2 step grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren; and 5 siblings, Jessie Stephens (Brenda), Carol Webb, Billy Stephens (Kaye), Bobby Joe Stephens (Debbie) and Crawford Stephens (Reada).
Memorial service 2 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2024 at the Potter Funeral Home. Visitation from 1 -2 p.m., Saturday, March 23, 2024 at the funeral home.
