Emory Cecil Smith of West Liberty, KY, passed away Friday, July 13, 2012 at his residence at the age of 80 years, 9 months, and 13 days. He was born on September 29, 1931, at Wrigley, KY, a son of the late Lonnie and Hannah Kidd Smith.

Emory was united in marriage to Lois Dickerson. This union was blessed with two children, Kathy and David. Emory was a man of many talents. He was a farmer, carpenter, had a sawmill,and worked at Eastern KY Tobacco Warehouse, and was a member of the West Liberty Methodist Church. Emory was a U S Army Korean War Veteran.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, David Smith, three brothers, Joseph Smith, Denzil Smith, and Dean Smith; one sister, Bonnie Fannin.

Survivors include his loving wife, Lois Smith, West Liberty, KY; one daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Mark Walter, West Liberty, KY; two grandchildren, Deatra & Darren Gillespie, West Liberty, KY and Aaron Walter, Morehead, KY; Two great grandchildren, Jace and Braylen. One sister, Betty Black of Sandy Hook, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral service 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 15, 2012 at the Potter Funeral Home with Rev. Eugene Haney, Elder Jimmy Adkins and Rev. Jamie Brunk, officiating. Burial will follow in the Smith Cemetery, Hwy 7, West Liberty, KY. Visitation at 6 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers: Danny Ray Fannin, Hank Allen, Bill Farley, Bill Dodge, John Alden Collins, Christopher Dickerson, Jackie Click, Tim Holbrook, Roger Dale Black, Paul David Black-Scott Dickerson-Todd Dickerson.

Honorary Pallbearers: Henry Lowell Allen, Darrell Pelfrey, Alden Collins, Tom Standafer, George Weddington, Dr. Bill Holbrook, Kevin Johnson, Jackie Smith and The Wilson “Boys”.
