Obituary for David Kendall Salyer

David Kendall Salyer of Martha, KY, passed away Thursday, August 16, 2018, at his daughter’s residence in West Liberty, KY, following an extended illness, at the age of 74 years, 8 months, and 19 days. He was born Sunday, November 28, 1943, in Paintsville, KY, son of the late Ernie & Macy Williams Salyer.

David was united in marriage to Hattie Leona Skaggs. This union was blessed with two daughters, Debbie & Lisa. David was a retired logger. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernie & Macy Salyer.

David is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Leona Skaggs Salyer; two daughters, Debbie & P.J. Cantrell of West Liberty, KY and Lisa Salyer of West Liberty, KY & Wesly Dunn of Tennessee; four granddaughters, Rachelle Kestner, Emily Cantrell, Kesly Welch, & Kaylee Welch all of West Liberty, KY; three brothers, George & Phyllis Salyer of Columbus, OH, Bondie & Carolyn Salyer of Louisa, KY, and Jim Salyer of Blaine, KY; one sister, Laura Salyer of Louisa, KY; three sisters-in-law, Mary Jane Fyffe, Lovena & Ed Collier, and Roberta & Junior Ray Sparks all of Indiana; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral service 1 p.m., Sunday, August 19, 2018 at the Potter Funeral Home, with Bro. Jackie Smith & Bro. Mike Adkins officiating. Burial to follow at the Nanny Skaggs Cemetery, Hwy 1715, Lawrence County, KY. Visitation after 6 p.m., Saturday, August 18, 2018 at the funeral home.
