Obituary for Ella Mae Phipps
Ella Mae Phipps of West Liberty, KY passed away on August 1, 2018 at the West Liberty Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at the age of 88 years 5 months and 30 days following an extended illness. Ella Mae was born at Florress, KY on February 2, 1930 to the late Thomas Cox and Bonnie Cox.
Ella Mae was united in marriage to James E. Phipps on May 27, 1949. This union was blessed with two children George Thomas “Tommy” Phipps and James Richard “Rick” Phipps. She was the retired Postmaster of Cottle, Kentucky, having retired in 1990 after 27 years of service. She was a member of the White Oak Christian Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister, and will be sadly missed by all her family and friends.
In addition to her parents Thomas Cox and Bonnie Cox she was preceded in death by her husband James E. Phipps and her brother Carl C. “Hap” Cox.
Ella Mae is survived by her sons George Thomas Phipps (Teresa) and James Richard Phipps and four grandchildren, James W. Phipps (Lydia) of West Liberty, KY, Regina A. Vance of West Liberty, KY, Josh Phipps (Jennie) of Ashland, KY, and Ryan Phipps of Bowling Green, KY; five great grandchildren Jenna Clay Vance and Bryce Thomas Vance both of West Liberty, KY; Justin Berg of South Lebanon, OH; Abbie and Allie Lewis of Ashland, KY.
Visitation 6 pm, Friday, August 3, 2018 at the Potter Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service 1 pm, Saturday August 4, 2018 at the Potter Funeral Home Chapel, with Elder Jimmy Adkins officiating. Burial to follow at the Lacy Creek Church of Christ Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Robert Phipps, Gregory Phipps, Chuck Cox, Stanley Franklin, Jamie Phipps and Ryan Phipps.
Honorary pallbearers all her many friends.
