Obituary for Alleta Faith Chaney
Alleta Faith Stamper Chaney of Hazel Green, KY, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2018, at Morgan County ARH, at the age of 93 years, 9 months, and 8 days. She was born Monday, July 14, 1924, at Morgan County, KY, daughter of the late Lon G. & Nova Nickell Stamper.
Alleta was united in marriage to her first husband, Marshall Walter, this union was blessed with two daughters, Carol & Marshalene. After the death of her first husband, she married Orville Chaney, and this union was blessed with two sons, Larry & Mark. Alleta was a homemaker, devoting her life to care for her family and her home. She will be remembered by most for her welcoming nature to family & friends. A bountiful table of farm fresh food and a clean warm bed was offered to all. Among the favorite foods would be her cornbread and country butter. She was also a long time Christian who believed in the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Today Alleta is in the presence of God and family members who went before her. We know the Bible says to be absent from the body is to be present with God.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first & second husbands, Marshall Walter & Orville Chaney; one son, Mark Chaney; two sisters, Geveva & Orene; and one brother, Lon Jr.
She is survived by three children, Carol Walter Pieratt & Bob of Middletown, OH, Marshalene Walter Clater & Dan of Trenton, OH, and Larry & Glenda Chaney of Hazel Green, KY; daughter-in-law, Bekki Chaney of Monroe, OH; seven grandchildren, Denise Pieratt Evans, Chris Pieratt, Jason Pieratt, Shannon Chaney, Allie Chaney, Patrick Chaney, and Megan Chaney Perry; thirteen great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; one brother, Paul Stamper of Grassy Creek, KY; and one sister, Betty Cecil of Mize, KY.
Funeral service 12 p.m., Saturday, April 28, 2018 at the Potter Funeral Home, with John Evans & Jason Pieratt officiating. Burial to follow in the Grassy Lick Cemetery, Grassy Creek, KY. Visitation 11 a.m. - 12 p.m., Saturday, April 28, 2018.
