Obituary for Garland Adkins
Garland Adkins of Sandy Hook, KY, passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2018, at his residence, at the age of 86 years, 6 months, and 14 days. He was born Saturday, October 3, 1931, at West Liberty, KY, son of the late Clifford “Tip” & Elizabeth “Lizzie” Elliott Adkins.
Garland was a retired carpenter. He was a Christian and a member of the Neal Howards Creek Church of God. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Gregory Adkins & Johnny Wilder; two grandchildren, Alanna Gross & Steven Jeffrey Adkins; and eight brothers & sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Myrtle Adkins; six children, Ricky Adkins, Robin Smith, Jeffrey & Frankie Adkins all of West Liberty, KY, Bruce Adkins of Indiana, Tammy & Tim Gross of West Liberty, KY, and Richard & Tammy Wilder of Sandy Hook, KY; ten grandchildren, Callie & Jason Lewis of West Liberty, KY, Heather & Corey Keeton of Martha, KY, Amanda & Brandon Blair of West Liberty, KY, Megan & Zak Messer of Morehead, KY, Jonnah Wilder Whitley, Jordan Wilder & Amy, Jacob & Jessica Wilder all of Sandy Hook, KY, Ryan Wilder of Morehead, KY, Derek Dickerson & Brittany, and Kendra Dickerson; seven great grandchildren; and one sister, Arlene Walton of Ezel, KY.
Funeral service 10 a.m., Friday, April 20, 2018 at the Potter Funeral Home, with Rev. Eugene Haney & Bro. Dean Lewis officiating. Burial to follow in the Wells - Wilder Cemetery, R. Wilder Road, Sandy Hook, KY. Visitation 6 p.m., Thursday, April 19, 2018 at the Potter Funeral Home.
