Obituary for Veachel Ferguson
Veachel Ferguson of West Liberty, KY, passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at the Greg & Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center, Hazard, KY, at the age of 77 years, 6 months, and 23 days. He was born Sunday, August 18, 1940, at Paintsville, KY, son of the late Oval & Sarah Wallin Ferguson.
Veachel was a retired welder out of Pipefitters Local #577, Portsmouth, OH. He was a member of the Elkfork Lodge #755. Veachel was a Christian and a member of the New Salem Enterprise Baptist Church until his passing. He enjoyed “Old Fashion Days” where he was known as the “The Bean Man” and kept them in pop and water. Veachel enjoyed a Saturday Night at “The Woods” listening to good ole Bluegrass music and dancing the night away.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Sammy Ferguson; two sisters, Blanche Ferguson & Letha Ferguson; one brother, Eugene Ferguson; and two nephews, Heath Ferguson & Mark Ferguson.
He is survived by his sister & brother-in-law, Carol & Clifford Wright of West Liberty, KY; two nephews, Aaron & Jennifer Wright of West Liberty, KY & Larry & Tammy Ferguson of Hobart, IN; one niece, Suzann & Jackie Cantrell of West Liberty, KY; nine great nieces & nephews, Nick Ferguson, Tyler Lewis, Sarah Lewis, Zackery Cantrell, Emily Cantrell, Brittany Ferguson, Chris Ferguson, Courtney Ferguson Kilrain, & the “little lady” (as he called her) Audrey Wright; two sisters-in-law, Julia Ferguson of West Liberty, KY & Sherry & Terry McKenzie of Paintsville, KY; one aunt, Angie Ferguson of West Liberty, KY; his former wife, Janie Skaggs of Paintsville, KY; and a host of cousins & friends.
Veachel was a loving brother, uncle, great uncle, and friend. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Funeral service 11 a.m., Saturday, March 17, 2018 at the New Salem Church, with Bro. James Wallin, Bro. Rick Keaton, Elder Jerry Brown, & Bro. Kenny Thomas officiating. Burial to follow at the Paris Ferguson Cemetery, Hwy 172, West Liberty, KY. Visitation 6 p.m., Friday, March 16, 2018 at the Potter Funeral Home.
