Obituary for Geneva Benton Allen Barker

Geneva A. Barker of West Liberty, KY, passed away Friday, March 9, 2018, at the West Liberty Nursing & Rehab Center, West Liberty, KY, at the age of 94 years and 9 days. She was born Thursday, February 28, 1924, at Caney, KY, daughter of the late Roy & Frances Lewis Benton.

Geneva was united in marriage to Delmar Allen, this union was blessed with 5 children, Gary, Lowell, Larry, Judy & Brenda. After Delmar’s passing, she married Norwood Barker and this union was blessed with four children, Paul, David, Sherry, & Becky. Geneva was a retired bookkeeper. She was a Christian and a member of the First Church of God at Caney, KY and also attended Index Community Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first & second husbands, Delmar Allen & Norwood Barker; one son, Larry Allen; and one step daughter, Norette Goebel.

She is survived by four sons, Gary & Judy Allen of Martin, KY, Lowell & Lill Allen of Malone, KY, Paul & Robin Barker of Lexington, KY, and David & Patty Barker of West Liberty, KY; four daughters, Judy & Wendell Johnson of Eminence, KY, Brenda & Kenneth Litteral of Lexington, KY, Sherry Griffie of Lexington, KY, and Becky & Gary Koehler of South Gate, KY; one step son, Dennis & Joyce Barker of Indiana; fifteen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and one brother & two sisters, Edwin Benton of Caney, Alene Taulbee of Cincinnati, OH, Naomi & Steeley Eagle of Cynthiana, KY.

Funeral service 2 p.m., Sunday, March 11, 2018 at the First Church of God, Caney, KY, with Rev. Mike Frisby & Rev. James Allen officiating. Burial to follow at the Benton Cemetery, Caney, KY. Visitation 6 p.m., Saturday, March 10, 2018 at the Potter Funeral Home.

Pallbearers: Nathan Barker, Jake Griffie, Chad Johnson, Isaac Allen, Jimmy Allen, Evan Allen, and Chase Johnson.
