Obituary for James Canoy Burkhart

James Canoy Burkhart of Fairdale, KY, passed away Friday, February 2, 2018, at the age of 84 years, 8 months, and 18 days. He was born Monday, May 15, 1933, son of the late Dewey H. & Inez Stacy Burkhart.

He was united in marriage to Wilma Louise Keeton. This union was blessed with three children, Canoy Jean, Donna M., and James E. He was a retired production worker for Delmonico Foods for 48 years. He was a Korean War Veteran serving in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955. He was saved and baptized on July 28, 1957 at the 22nd Street Baptist Church in Louisville, KY.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey H. & Inez Burkhart; one sister, Burlene Horner; and one brother, Garland B. Burkhart.

He is survived by his loving wife, Wilma Louise Burkhart; two children, Donna M. & Shane Ernspiker of Fairdale, KY and James E. Burkhart of CA; two grandchildren, Heather M. & Andrew VanSteenbergh of Louisville, KY and Joshua S. Ernspiker of St. Petersburg, FL; three great grandchildren, Haley Wathen, Andrew VanSteenbergh, and Madisyn Church; and one sister, Wanda LeMaster of Sellersburg, IN.

Funeral service 11 a.m., Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at the Potter Funeral Home, with Rev. Karl Elam officiating. Burial to follow at the Keeton – Fyffe Cemetery, West Liberty, KY. Visitation 6 p.m., Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at the funeral home.
