Obituary for Willard Smith

Willard Smith of West Liberty, KY, passed away Friday, November 17, 2017, at his residence, following a brief illness, at the age of 79 years, 10 months, and 16 days. He was born Saturday, January 1, 1938 in Grassy Creek, KY, son of the late Cormick Smith & Maggie Taulbee Smith.

Willard was united in marriage to his beloved wife and best friend, Avery Adams Smith. He was a retired farmer, a Christian, and of the Baptist Faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Jeanetta Smith Cottle and Elsie Smith Frieden and two brothers, Burton Smith & Earl Smith.

He is survived by his loving wife, Avery Fern Smith; two dear friends and unofficially adopted children, Denzil Wheeler & Janie Wingo; five sisters, Ollie Vest of Hartford, KY, Mildred & Frank Allen of West Liberty, KY, Patricia & Johnny Perkins of Dayton, OH, Patti & Henry Rogers of Lexington, KY, Shelia & Anthony Elam of Ashland, KY; one brother, Gerald & Diane Smith of Hartford, KY; and a host of nieces, nephews, and great nieces & nephews.

Funeral service 11 a.m., Monday, November 20, 2017 at the Potter Funeral Home with Bro. Kenny Gevedon & Bro. Jim Tyra officiating. Burial in the Grassy Lick Cemetery, Grassy Creek, KY. Visitation 6 p.m., Sunday, November 19, 2017 at funeral home.
