Obituary for Russell D. Williams

Russell D. Williams of Nancy, KY, formerly of West Liberty, KY, passed away Saturday, September 30, 2017, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital , Somerset, KY, at the age of 96 years, 3 months, and 12 days. He was born Saturday, June 18, 1921 in Florress, KY, son of the late James Manford & Flossie Ellen Dawson Williams.

He was united in marriage to Gladys Burton on May 15, 1948. This union was blessed with one daughter, Patty. Russell was a retired Assembly Line Worker and was a World War II US Army Veteran. He was a loving grandfather, and brother and will be missed by all his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Williams on November 7, 2000; his daughter, Patty Shrout; one brother, Raymond Williams; and four sisters, Georgia Humphreys, Helen Brooks, Lisa Williams, and Betty Ross.

He is survived by two grandchildren, Edward Jernigan & Karen Johnson and Angela Jernigan Caudill all of Nancy, KY; four great grandchildren, Tyler Sutton & Jessica, Brooke Caudill, Cody Caudill, & Jacob Jernigan; two brothers, Archie & Lena Williams of Fairborn, OH and Arkie & Emma Sue Williams of Beavercreek, OH; one brother-in-law, Lee “Bear” Brooks of West Liberty, KY; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral service 1 p.m., Monday, October 2, 2017 at the Potter Funeral Home with Bro. Rick Pelfrey officiating. Burial to follow in the Dawson Cemetery, Lacy Creek, KY, with military rites conducted by Morgan County DAV Chapter 132. Visitation 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., Monday, October 2, 2017.

Pallbearers: Edward Jernigan, Tyler Sutton, Timothy Sutton, Cody Caudill, Jacob Jernigan, Dicky Williams, Duane Williams, and Ralph Newman.
